In the midst of the thorns, beauty remains.

Searching for hearts in nature is something I do anytime I am outside. I love it!

When I find one, I know it is a gentle whisper from God to remind me that despite my fleeting thoughts, despite my mess-ups on any given day, despite the actions I take or didn’t take, despite the craziness around me...He sees me. He loves me. He is in the details.

Look closely.

Thorns.

Hearts.

Dead vines.

Live vines.

Beauty.

Makes me think, oftentimes we have thorns in our lives that are causing us so much trouble. You know, the type of thorn that when you walk by it, it literally takes ahold of your skin or your clothes and reaches out and  grabs you. The type of thorn that no matter what you do, you just can’t seem to shake it.

But wait...

In the midst of the thorns, beauty remains.

Do I sometimes focus on the thorns in my life rather than the beauty? Ummm yes.

Do I sometimes get caught up in the day to day craziness of the world and fail to look at the beauty that is around me?  Ummm yes.

Do I sometimes let the thorns in my life take over? Umm yes?

Do I sometimes not pay attention to the beauty in the midst of the thorns?  Umm yes.

I think if we are being honest, we all do.

Life is filled with thorns.

BUT...

we can still find beauty in the midst

IF

we look closely and change our perspective.

Today, may you find beauty where you see thorns.

May you stop long enough to know that God is in the details.

May you search and seek out those things in your world that remind you that you are loved.

May you change your perspective so beauty shines.
