Shellyism...
Who you are on the inside is the reflection that people will see on the outside.
If you have been reading my Shellyisms for a while you know this is one of my foundational truths.
I may have said it differently such as, “What is inside of you will spew out of you.”
Or, “The WHO that you are will be the WHAT you become.” As well as several others.
There is no other way to slice it, no matter how you try to hide it; the person you are when no one is looking is the person you become when people are.
As we prepare for spring, it is a time of new growth, a time of new beginnings (especially for people like me who fell off the New Years’ bandwagon), and a time to renew. Spring is a time where we celebrate one of my favorite days of the year, Easter. Spring is the time where we plant, water, and grow.
What would happen if we took that same intentionality in preparing for all things spring to working and growing on who we are on the inside?
If unforgiveness is inside of you, it will spew out of you.
If a lack of self-worth and value is inside of you, it will manifest itself in many ways to the outside world.
If biases are inside of you, they will be seen in what you do and say to others.
If judgment is inside of you, then many of the words you use have some type of judgment.
If joy is inside of you then it will be seen by others.
I could go on and on.
One of the most important things you can do for yourself takes a look at your insides. Take time to truly see your self-reflection and then take measures to grow in that area.
If lack of self-worth is on your insides and you need help growing out of that, my devotional series is almost complete.
Today, look in the mirror. First, know that you are beautiful as you are. Then, go deep into your insides and find out what 1 area you can focus on this spring to grow and thrive.
